A corrections officer with Lee Correctional Institution was stabbed by an inmate and was seriously injured.
According to a tweet from the Department of Corrections the officer was stabbed at a 'living unit' at Lee Correctional on Thursday April 2. He was taken to a local hospital and is recovering at home.
The case is under investigation by South Carolina Deparment of Corrections (SCDC) Police and charges are expected.
The unit will be on lockdown until investigation is complete.
