Dead Woman Found 'Covered in Trash'

A woman was found 'covered in trash' along Two Notch Road Wednesday, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

A dead woman has been found 'covered in trash' along Two Notch Road, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators say an employee working to clean up an area near 6620 Two Notch Road discovered the woman hidden under some trash around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Deputies say the woman appears to have been there for some time.

Investigators are working to determine what may have happened, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Major Stephany Snowden with the Richland County Sheriff's Department says the body found on the 6600 block of Two Notch Road has left many with questions.

"We'll be looking at trying to put the pieces together for this mystery. We do not have a cause of death and we do know know how long this body had been here," said Snowden.

Bennie Backmon is a tire technician at Go Used Tires right next to where the body was found. H e says he could tell something wasn't right but couldn't believe what it was.

"Never had an idea. For the past two or three days, we had a real bad odor. I thought it was the sewer system but it got kind of bad the past few days," said Backmon.

Backmon says they've seen their share of small crimes in the area but nothing like this.

"Just a lot of vandalism. Take tires from all over (the business) and scatter them all over the road. I don't know if they're hoodlums or what. Weird things are always going on all the time. Shootings, vandalism, all kinds of stuff, all the time," explained Backmon.

Backmon says he'll start keeping an eye out.

"I think I might put up some more surveillance cameras and stuff like that. Be more aware of things around you," said Backmon.
