Man randomly flagged down vehicles, stabbed multiple drivers, officials say

According to investigators a 49-year-old man randomly attacked drivers with a kitchen knife, stabbing one person to death.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Authorities said a man was taken into custody Wednesday after he randomly attacked multiple drivers in north Harris County.

Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office officials said the man killed one man and injured a woman.

They said the suspect was standing in the middle of the street flagging down drivers while holding a seven-inch-long kitchen knife and a stuffed animal.

"From what we know, these are just motorists driving along the street. They’re strangers to him. He doesn’t know them, they don’t know him. He approaches the car -- waving them down and when they stop to see what’s going on, he stabs them," Harris County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Sidney Miller said.

Officials said one woman stopped and the suspect stabbed her in the torso. She was able to drive away and is expected to survive.

According to authorities, the man then flagged down another vehicle and stabbed the driver multiple times. He drove home but died before he could get inside.

"Unfortunately, he drove home ... where he ended up collapsing in the driveway," Miller said.

He was dead when authorities arrived.

Officials said when constable deputies showed up, they told the suspect to put the weapon down, but he wouldn't listen. That's when they said they used a Taser to subdue him and take him into custody. They said he didn't live in the area but was staying at his aunt's house.
