Orangeburg County, SC (WLTX) - Orangeburg County deputies found what they say is a liquor still in a wooded area near Holly Hill.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says back on August 28th, his officers were investigating marijuana grow operations in the county using a State Law Enforcement Division chopper. While they were up in the air, officers spotted the still.
Officers tracked down the property owner, who told them she didn't claim the still. According to Ravenel, she told first told officers that a storage building in her backyard was being used as a social club where she sold food and beer. However, she later said the club was private and that everyone put money together to buy the food and alcohol.
Officers say they found 25 55-gallon barrels full of corn mash that were fermenting. Two 5-gallon containers with what appeared to be moonshine were also located on the property, officers say, as well as items used to make moonshine.
No one has been charged in connection with the discovery.
