Deputy, Police Officer Accused of Stealing Golf Clubs

A former Lexington County deputy and a former Columbia Metro Airport public safety officer are being accused of stealing items from someone's property.

Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - A former Lexington County deputy and a former Columbia Metro Airport public safety officer are being accused of stealing items from someone's property.

According to a warrant, 36-year-old Willie Womble, the deputy, and 27-year-old Jesse Gregg Moore, the officer, were removing items from a property back in February as part of a court-ordered eviction.

The warrant says Womble told Moore to take a set of golf clubs, a golf bag, and a driver from a shed without the owner's permission. When asked about the incident, agents says Womble gave them a sworn written statement denying he'd instructed Moore to take the items. Investigators, however, believe he wasn't telling the truth.

Both men were booked at the jail and have been released on personal recognizance bonds.
