Dispute begins with texts and ends with stabbing, attempted murder charge in Kershaw County

The victim allegedly requested a ride to the location where the assault took place. She was taken to the hospital by a witness.

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — A Kershaw County woman is facing charges after a stabbing that investigators believe began over an ongoing argument between two women that played out over text messages.

The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office arrested and charged 18-year-old Alicia Rene'E Harris following a stabbing that took place on Tuesday. Deputies responded to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Health Kershaw Medical Center that day, where a stabbing victim had arrived in the emergency room.

Deputies spoke with Camden Police investigators, who turned the case over to the county once they established that the scene was on Battleship Road and not within city limits. A witness in the hospital waiting room told sheriff's office investigators that the victim and Harris had been in a "back and forth" argument through text messages. On Tuesday, the witness said the victim asked for a ride to the location of the incident. There, the incident report states that the victim and Harris got into a fight, and Harris used a knife. The witness said they were able to separate the two and get the victim to the hospital.

An additional witness provided information that helped police locate the suspect at an apartment near where the stabbing took place. The incident report stated that two knives allegedly used in the assault were photographed and included as evidence.

Harris is facing charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. According to court records, she was granted a bond on both charges.
