COLUMBIA, S.C. — An early morning fire destroyed an empty building at an apartment complex in the St. Andrews neighborhood in Richland County in Wednesday, July 3.

Third shift crews from Columbia Fire Department and Irmo Fire District responded to a call around 3 a.m. to St. Andrews Woods, a community of individually owned townhomes off Beatty Road, to find heavy fire coming from one of the buildings. Although the building was vacant at the time of the fire, one civilian with minor injuries was transported by Richland County EMS to an area hospital.

The Richland County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
