Authorities have captured an inmate who walked away from a Florence County pre-release center Monday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDOC).
SCDOC tweeted an update early Monday evening, saying Christopher Sherer is now in custody after being caught by the Florence Police Department.

Sherer, 49, had been reported missing from the Palmer Pre-Release Center in Florence County at approximately 1:30 p.m. Monday.
Sherer was serving three years for entering a bank in Lexington County with the intent to steal.
