COLUMBIA, S.C. — A 28-year-old former inmate is back behind bars after being arrested on charges involving drones at Broad River Correctional Institution (BRCI) in Columbia.
According to the South Carolina Department of Corrections inspector general, Quintin Alexander Douglas was charged with four counts of criminal conspiracy after flying drones carrying contraband into Broad River Correctional Institution in April and July 2023. At the time, Douglas was out on bond after doing the same thing at McCormick Correctional Institution in 2023.
The arrest warrants state that Douglas stood in or near the parking lot at the Brook Pines apartment complex at 241 Brook Pines Dr. and flew a drone with contraband attached into BRCI, intending to distribute the contraband to an inmate there. Physical and visual evidence and an extraction analysis report of the drone and Douglas' cell phone provided probable cause for his arrest.
