COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia Police have charged a man with murder in connection to a fatal stabbing of a woman in Columbia.
Officers said Tuesday they'd arrested 43-year-old Jimmy Lee Hill Jr. and booked him on the charge.
The incident happened just before 6 p.m. on Abelia Road near Devine Street in Columbia. That's between the Heathwood and Shandon neighborhoods.
According to police, the victim was an acquaintance of Hill. Officers said the two got into an argument that then escalated to the stabbing. The victim was taken to the hospital where she later died. The coroner has not released that person's identity yet.
Officers said the incident was isolated and there was no broader threat to the community. The investigation continues.
Hill has been booked at the Richland Count Detention Center.
