SUMTER, S.C. — Two people were arrested after several firearms and multiple “Glock switch” components were seized from a Sumter home earlier this week.
The Sumter Police Department, U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security made the arrests and seizure after learning of deliveries of “Glock switch” components to a home in the city of Sumter.
A Glock switch is a device that can be added to a semi-automatic firearm, making it fully automatic.
Information gathered in the investigation indicates a 17-year-old resident ordered the switches for potential re-sale of the devices. He was placed in custody and charged with possession of a machine gun and possession of a firearm by a minor. His name cannot be released because of his age.
An adult also living at the residence was found in possession of a controlled substance with a street value of more than $700 and placed in custody and booked at the county detention center.
