IRMO, S.C. — Authorities have reopened a busy Richland County road following a shooting that left one person wounded on Wednesday afternoon.
Deputies were alerted to gunfire in the 1200 block of Piney Grove Road just before 6 p.m. An incident report states deputies were alerted to five gunshots and learned on their way to the scene that someone had been shot and crashed near Wade Street.
A woman flagged deputies down and said she found the male victim on the side of the road. Deputies discovered he had been shot once in the abdomen and twice in the inner thigh. Deputies said the victim said three male suspects robbed him but didn't say what they took. He said the shooting happened on Wynn Way, and he tried to get away.
Deputies blocked the area temporarily as they searched for the suspects with the help of K-9 officers but later reopened the road to traffic.
