IRMO, S.C. — A woman has been charged with murder after deputies say she fatally shot a neighbor in Irmo on Wednesday.
Deputies say they responded to the cul-de-sac of Hedgefield Court around 3 p.m. Wednesday after reports that a person had been shot. Prior to arriving, deputies were advised by dispatch that the suspect was still on scene.
When a Richland County deputy arrived on scene, deputies say he located the suspect and detained her. The deputy also found the victim nearby with one gunshot wound to the upper body.
The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital and died from his injury shortly thereafter. He was identified Thursday by the coroner's office as 22-year-old James R. Outland of Irmo.
After further investigation, investigators determined that the murder was the result of a neighbor dispute.
Charmika Wright is charged with one count of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
