Lexington County deputy on paid administrative leave after domestic violence charge

LEXINGTON, S.C. — A Lexington County deputy is charged with third-degree domestic violence, according to a Lexington Police Department incident report.

Town of Lexington police officers arrested Charles Freeman, 47, early Monday morning at a home on Ivy Green Lane, according to the incident report.

Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon has placed Freeman on paid administrative leave.

“When I became aware of the arrest, we initiated the process to place Deputy Freeman on leave,” Koon said. “We continue to gather information about what happened in this situation and will take the appropriate action after reviewing the facts of the case.”

Freeman was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center early Monday morning. He was released Monday afternoon after meeting the conditions of his bond.
