Lexington, SC (WLTX) - A Lexington doctor had been drinking before he fatally shot a man inside his own home last fall, according to a warrant released for the first time Monday.
The document gives new details into the killing of 30-year-old William Holland that police say was committed by 46-year-old Dr. Adam Marcus Lazzarini.
Back on October 9, the warrant states Lazzarini pointed a gun at Holland's chest. The gun then went off.
The warrant says afterward, Lazzarinia made false and conflicting statements to officers. Investigators also say he didn't give them information about a witness to the shooting, which officers felt obstructed justice.
A separate witness told officers Lazzarini made an admission shortly after the shooting. Last week, Lazzarini was charged with involuntary manslaughter and obstructing justice.
At the time of his Holland's death, however, investigators called the shooting an accidental.
But on May 1, 2018 Lazzarini's wife was found dead inside the same home on Hunter Mills Drive where Holland was shot. Cayce Public Safety Director Byron Snellgrove said last Friday her death is considered "suspicious," but did not elaborate.
Officers said that an autopsy report has not yet come back. Lazzarini is currently not facing any charges related to her death.
Investigators said when they went to the home to look into her death, they remembered being there months earlier, and obtained additional information while at the home that led to the charges in Holland's death. Investigators have not elaborated on what that information may be but said they did not have probable cause at the time in October to obtain the evidence.
Lazzarini is an orthopedic surgeon for Southeastern Orthopedic and Sports Medicine at the Lexington Medical Center.
