KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — A woman is recovering from a wound to the neck after being shot at by the father of her child at a Kershaw County business, authorities said.

A spokesperson for the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office said that deputies were sent to a business on Highway 601 South in Lugoff to reports of shots fired and a woman screaming on Friday.

The caller who reported the incident was able to provide enough detail about an escaping vehicle that they were able to intercept it a short time later and make a traffic stop.

Based on preliminary details released by the sheriff's office, the driver had just shot at the woman in a business parking lot. Authorities said the victim had a wound to the neck that wasn't considered life-threatening.

Authorities have since identified the driver as 20-year-old Shameik Lamell Stover of Cayce and charged him with attempted murder which follows an attempted murder charge for which he was already out on bond.

“Thank God we didn’t lose another victim today to a suspect out on bond for a separate violent offense," Sheriff Boan said.

He'll remain in the Kershaw County Detention Center until his next bond hearing, the sheriff's department said.
