COLUMBIA, S.C. — A man charged with stabbing his 20-month-old nephew and his adult sister will remain behind bars for now.
William Murray, 37, went before a magistrate for a bond hearing Thursday afternoon in Columbia. Because of the severity of the charge, the judge denied bond until a date can be set in circuit court.
He faces two charges of attempted murder.
The incident happened on April 5 at the Trenton Court Apartments in the 200 block Connie Drive. which is in an area off Broad River Road in the St. Andrews area. Richland County deputies say when they arrived they found witnesses who told them they'd seen a woman running saying her child had been stabbed.
Both the woman and child suffered multiple stab wounds to the upper body and were taken to an area hospital.
During Thursday's hearing, a victim advocate told the court the child had been been stabbed in the head. Deputies said the child needed surgery to remove a shred of metal left from the knife.
