Police find man shot dead inside Columbia home; investigation underway

Authorities said they found the 38-year-old victim dead around 11 p.m. at a home on Hawkeye Court.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened at a home on Wednesday night.

According to the department, officers were called to the scene on Hawkeye Court off Percival Road around 11 p.m., where they found a 38-year-old man shot dead inside the home. Police said they questioned several people who were at the scene.

Information regarding a suspect, motive or what led up to the shooting was not released as authorities continue to investigate. The Richland County Coroner's Office is assisting in the investigation.
