COLUMBIA, S.C. — The FBI's Columbia office is warning that a man wanted for murder hundreds of miles away may have ties to South Carolina.
The agency's New York office said in a statement that it is helping the New Rochelle Police in its search for Mtayari Dixon, who is wanted in the death of a man in 2022. Investigators believe Dixon shot the man after an argument between the two that happened in New Rochelle, New York.
Investigators believe that, after the murder, he boarded a train to Stamford, Connecticut and then took a bus to Atlanta before traveling to Charlotte, North Carolina. In a Jan. 31 update, the office said he had known ties to each city mentioned.
On Friday, the Columbia office added that he may also have ties in South Carolina and urged residents to be on the lookout for him. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to Dixon's location and arrest.
