Elgin, SC (WLTX) -- Sheriff Leon Lott will have another news conferencethis morning on the disappearance of 15-year-old Gabbie Swainson.
Lott said Tuesday the girl was kidnapped from her home back on August 18. His officers arrested 52-year-old Freddie Grant (the boyfriend of Swainson's mother) on criminal charges, but say they haven't found Gabbiee.
Lott's remarks are set to begin at 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, people across Elgin say they can't believe the case of a missing teenage has taken root in their community.
"You never know, this little small town and all this big city stuff is happening right there, less than one football field from my home," said Marcy Wood. She lives around the corner from the home of Grant.

Wood has lived in Elgin for the last five years and says she can't believe her neighborhood and even her own backyard have turned into what feels like a real life crime show with police dogs and law enforcement combing the area.
"Everybody's just kinda shocked," said Wood. "And then it got really real, and really scary, because my kids walk right there, play right here where there were people looking for a little girl, and it's just unreal."
Wood says she won't allow her two sons to take the trail near Grant's home, at least for now.
Across the town, people are talking about the disappearance of the 15-year-old teen.
Gilbert Sullivan stopped in town for lunch with a friend. He says it's a shame that you hear of cases like Gabbiee's more and more all across the country.
"Pretty shocked there for a while and then I got to thinking about some of these other missing kids cases, that's pretty close to this area, and that took the shock away from me," said Sullivan.
Still as people wonder how something like this could hit so close to home, they are hoping for the best possible outcome.
"I don't know what to say, except, pray for her, that little girl and her mother, it's so sad, I can't imagine how she feels," said Wood.
