COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A former correctional officer is accused of having sex with an inmate inside the Marion County jail.
The State Law Enforcement Division said 25-year-old Ariel Roberts was arrested Wednesday and charged with misconduct in office. She was booked at the jail where she worked. The crime is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
An arrest warrant alleges the crime occurred between Dec. 20, 2015, and May 18, 2016, while she was on duty.
It was unknown if Roberts had a lawyer. No phone number was listed for her address.
