BETHUNE, S.C. — Authorities have released the name of a woman who was killed in a Wednesday night shooting in Bethune.

According to an update from the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office, 20-year-old Jordan Privette of Bethune was shot and killed around 8:30 p.m. on Wateree Grove Lane in Bethune.

Another person, who has not yet been identified, is still in critical condition. No additional details about how the shooting occurred have been released.

However, Kershaw County Sheriff Lee Boan said the incident did not appear to be a random act and said there was no reason to believe anyone in the area was in danger at the time. He also said the sheriff's office is not currently searching for additional suspects in the shooting.

"This is still an active investigation. We will release more information as it becomes available," Sheriff Boan said. "Our intent is to release facts, not assumptions. Please be patient as facts do not always come quickly.”

The sheriff's office, the Kershaw County Coroner's Office, and the SLED Crime Scene Unit are investigating the incident.
