Sheriff seeks answers in unsolved 2022 Orangeburg County shooting that left man dead

Orangeburg County authorities ask the public for help solving the 2022 shooting of Michael Frasier, urging anyone with information to come forward.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office is seeking information about an unsolved 2022 shooting that left a 36-year-old man dead.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said that on Oct. 15, 2022, investigators were called to The Regional Medical Center (TRMC) in Orangeburg after staff there reported a gunshot wound victim. The victim, Michael Frasier, arrived at the hospital conscious but later passed away.

Investigators determined the shooting happened near a St. David Street residence in Orangeburg.

Investigators viewed a hospital security video that showed Frasier being dropped off by another male. That male was later identified and interviewed, but the case remains unsolved.

“This case is two years old but we’re not dropping it,” Ravenell said. “There’s somebody out there who knows exactly what happened.”

If you have any information on the case, deputies ask you to contact the Orangeburg County Communications Center at 803-534-3550 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or CrimeSC.com.
