'He's afraid to leave his home' | Arrests made after mother says teenage son was attacked on Texas school bus

Kelsie Trevino said her son, 13-year-old Caden Williams, was left with injuries after he was attacked on June 18 by a group that included adults.

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Kelsie Trevino said her 13-year-old son is still reeling from an attack on a Pflugerville ISD school bus on June 18.

Two adults were arrested and charged in the incident, while two juveniles involved were also arrested, according to the school district. The charges include injury to a child, engaging in organized criminal activity and assault with bodily injury.

Pflugerville ISD added that additional charges are pending.

Trevino said her son, Caden Williams, who is in summer school, was supposed to get to his drop-off point when he had an altercation with another student on the bus.

Trevino said the student in question then called family members, who made their way to the bus stop and onto the bus where the attack then unfolded.

"It was very heartbreaking to pick up Caden in that condition," Trevino said.

Trevino said Williams was taken to the emergency room and a report of the incident was filed.

"I just feel like there was there was plenty of time to prevent this," Trevino said "There's plenty of time to prevent Caden [being] in the state that he's in today. You know, looking over his shoulders. He's afraid to leave his home."

Trevino is seeking accountability from the district as she questions why the bus driver didn't step in and what safety measures will be put in place to prevent a situation as this one from happening again.

"What actions are they going to take and what is the punishment regarding this bus driver who failed not only my student, but other students as well regarding their safety?" Trevino asked.

Trevino wonders why it had to reach the point that it did and is looking at the next steps toward seeking justice for her son.

"[The student's family] could have contacted or asked Caden to call his parents or to call his family to get the matters resolved," Trevino said.

A spokesperson from Pflugerville ISD shared the letter below, which was sent out to parents of the students who were on the bus:
