COLUMBIA, S.C. — One person is dead after a shooting in Richland County over the weekend.
Deputies say on Sunday, Jan 21, they responded to the 200 block of Pond Ridge Road East in northeast Richland County in response to a shooting.
Upon arriving, deputies say they found the victim in the road and attempted to render aid. The victim appeared to have several gunshot wounds to his upper torso, according to deputies.
EMS arrived on scene and the subject was transported to a local hospital.
The original caller said a dark SUV left the neighborhood at the time of the shooting.
Deputies say they found several fired cartridges in the road as well as several bullet holes in the side of a home on Pond Ridge Road East.
Deputies later received word that the victim died at the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing, according to deputies.
