Richland County Coroner identifies victim of Devine Street stabbing

Incident occurred Monday, April 8, near intersection of Devine Street and Abelia Road in Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has identified the victim of a stabbing that occurred Monday evening in Columbia.

Joanne Robinson, 45, of Columbia, was stabbed and killed just before 6 p.m. Monday in the Heathwood neighborhood area. 

Columbia Police arrested 43-year-old Jimmy Lee Hill Jr. and charged him with Robinson's murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. 

According to police, Robinson and Hill got into an argument that escalated to Hill stabbing Robinson. Robinson was taken to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

Hill has been booked into Alvin S Glenn Detention Center.
