Search ends in Killian area after traffic stop leads to foot pursuit

Authorities said the vehicle was stopped after they determined it was stolen.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Deputies have suspended their search for a suspect who ran from his vehicle following a traffic stop in the Killian area of Richland County.

Richland County Sheriff's Department deputies were searching an area near Farrow and Killian roads with the assistance of police K-9s on Thursday afternoon.

Air-traffic monitoring services also show a Richland County Sheriff's Department helicopter was also over the area at the time.

A spokesperson for the Richland County Sheriff's Department said that deputies had conducted a traffic stop and the driver had run from the vehicle around 2:30 p.m. As a result, deputies formed a perimeter and a K-9 team began tracking the suspect.

The search was eventually called off and, at this time, the suspect has not been apprehended. Authorities said the vehicle was initially stopped because it was determined to be stolen.
