COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Richland County Sheriff's Department (RCSD) has made a second arrest in the case of a tow truck driver who was shot and killed on June 12 in Columbia.
Early morning Monday, June 17, SRT and Fugitive Task Force personnel attempted to serve a search warrant at the home of Essence Jackson in the 7200 block of Fairmont Road in the Capitol View neighborhood, off Leesburg Road in Columbia.
Jackson was not located at the home but was found at a secondary location a short time after the execution of the search warrant at the Fairmont address.
She was taken into custody without further incident, charged with murder and booked at Alvin S Glenn Detention Center.
Essence Jackson's arrest is the second arrest made in this case. She is the sister of Raheem Jackson, 20, who was arrested and charged with murder of 46-year-old Steven Hughes on June 12.
Hughes was repossessing a car on Fairmont Road when RCSD investigators say Raheem Jackson shot and killed him.
RCSD says Essence Jackson is being named a “co-conspirator contributing to actions that occurred that evening."
This is still an ongoing investigation.
