A seven-year-old is recovering after authorities say he was shot by another child at what deputies believe was a sleepover in Greenville County.

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office said 911 operators received a call around 11:35 p.m. on Saturday that a seven-year-old boy had been shot in the abdomen. Deputies arrived and found the victim, who was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his wound. Authorities didn't say how badly the child was wounded.

Further investigation determined that a 13-year-old boy shot the younger child at an apparent sleepover at the victim's home. Authorities said the 13-year-old left the scene but was later found at his own home a few doors down and arrested.

The sheriff's office said it is still investigating the incident to determine how the shooting occurred and why.
