RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities are investigating a prison inmate's death on Tuesday as a homicide.
The South Carolina Department of Corrections said 40-year-old Donnel Geoffrey Brown, an inmate at Broad River Correctional Institution, was found unresponsive on Tuesday around 10 a.m. A state prisons spokesperson said Brown's death is being investigated as a homicide. The agency released no additional details about the death or a possible suspect.
An autopsy is scheduled, and the case is being investigated by the Department of Corrections Inspector General's Office, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Richland County Coroner's Office.
