GASTON, S.C. — A man faces several charges after authorities say an attempted traffic stop turned into a chase through three counties.

The Gaston Police Department said officers working on Friday night attempted to pull over a vehicle for several traffic violations in the area of Main Street (U.S. 321) and Mack Street. However, the driver, identified as Dylan Echevarria, didn't stop, which led to a chase.

Police said officers followed Echevarria onto I-26 West, where Springdale Police officers joined. When the chase entered the area of I-26 and Bush River Road, the Richland County Sheriff's Department joined. Eventually, the pursuit led law enforcement into Kershaw County, where that county's deputies joined. Authorities said they ultimately managed to deflate Echevarria's tires and take him into custody.

He was booked on unspecified charges in Richland County before making bond at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Gaston Police said he was then taken to the Lexington County Detention Center and booked on charges of driving under suspension - first, failure to stop for blue lights, reckless driving, use of a tag on another vehicle and disregarding a traffic control device.
