Deputies say inmate stabbed at jail

No one has been charged.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — One inmate was transferred to a local hospital with "numerous" puncture wounds according to Richland County Deputies. 

The stabbing happened Monday evening around 6:30pm.  When deputies arrived at the jail they were met with jail staff and an injured inmate.

The inmate was transferred to a local hospital with " numerous puncture wounds to his upper body."  Deputies say this was a fight between two inmates.

A spokesperson with the jail said that the incident happened in the living, common area and that the inmate's wound's were non-life threatening and that he is under the care of medical staff at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. 

No one has been charged and the investigation is ongoing.
