According to police, officers reported to the scene on Brand Street, between Penn Street and Royal Avenue near Lafayette Drive, after a call of shots fired around 10:45 p.m. A Sumter County Sheriff's Department deputy found a man, who had been shot, in the roadway on Brand Street.

The victim, identified as 42-year-old Paul Shereshaw, of Charlotte, was transported to Prism Health Tuomey, where he died a short time later from his injuries.
