Pregnant mother shot to death in Sumter likely knew her killer, police say

Her other children were not inside the home when she was killed.

SUMTER, S.C. — Sumter police are asking for new leads and information from the public in the killing of a pregnant mother of two.

Keyirra Walker, 25, was shot to death at her home on Carroll Drive in Sumter and found dead on May 13. Walker had two children and was five months pregnant with a third child.

Police believe that Walker likely knew her killer. Her other children were not inside the home when she was killed.

Investigators said they're looking for anyone who may have seen vehicles in the Carroll Drive area either the night of May 12 or the morning of May 13. If someone does remember seeing a vehicle, they want the person to be as specific as possible in describing the car, including make, model, or markings such as stripping/designs, accessories, stickers, and damaged parts. If people may have seen someone driving or a passenger in the car,  police want to know their gender, hairstyle and color, build (tall, slim, short, stocky, approximate height and weight), clothing, visible scars tattoos, and piercings.

They also want to know if anyone heard any noises that night, such as people talking, cars driving off, possible gunfire, or other sounds. They add that sometimes the smallest bit of information can be the most significant.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sumter PD at 803-436-2700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Tips also can be submitted online at P3tips.com or by using the P3tips app that can be downloaded to your Android or iOS (Apple) devices.
