CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say one person is in custody in connection with the shooting death of a missing Sumter teen, and deputies in a neighboring county are searching for a second suspect.
A press statement from the Sumter Police Department said Clarendon County deputies are searching for 20-year-old Ja'Hugh L'Goeshay Brukale Martin of Manning, who faces murder and other charges following the shooting death of 15-year-old Derrick "CD" Wilson of Sumter.
Wilson was last seen alive on Tuesday at the home of a relative on Meadow Circle in Sumter County. Authorities said he got into a car with two other people. Sumter officers found Wilson's body on Thursday near the corner of Hoyt and Nelson streets, one day before he would have turned 16.
Another suspect, 17-year-old Jaylen Hammett, was previously arrested at a home in Clarendon County and charged with accessory before the fact of murder. The sheriff's office said he is being held without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
