SWAT team, deputies detain person of interest in connection with deadly Columbia club shooting

The sheriff's department said there is no current threat to the community.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — The Richland County Sheriff's Department has detained a person of interest in connection with a deadly Columbia-area club shooting on Sunday morning.

Viewers contacted News19 around 7 p.m., reporting a significant law enforcement presence along Farrow Road and Standish Street. News19 crews on the scene heard a SWAT team ordering a person to leave a nearby home with their hands up and telling the person that deputies had a warrant.

During the standoff, Farrow Road was closed to traffic, with several sheriff's department vehicles on the road. The sheriff's department said later Sunday night that the presence was related to deputies executing a search warrant in the 5000 block of Farrow Road in connection to the early morning shooting at the Vegas Knights nightclub on River Drive. The shooting left two men wounded and a woman dead.

The sheriff's department said law enforcement detained a person of interest in the shooting but didn't publically release that person's name or their possible connection to the incident. The sheriff's department added that there is no current threat to the community.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or visit CrimeSC.com.
