Police charge teen with murder in killing of 3-year-old boy at Georgia mobile home park

Police said they arrested Julian Omar Cubillos, 17, for the alleged murder of Kyron Zarcos, who was just 3.

ATHENS, Ga. — Athens-Clarke County Police have made an arrest in the killing of a 3-year-old boy who was shot to death at a mobile home park on Friday evening.

Police said they arrested 17-year-old Julian Omar Cubillos of Lawrenceville for the alleged murder of Kyron Zarcos, who was just 3. Cubillos is charged with malice murder, felony murder, four counts of aggravated assault, and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

Police also said they have obtained arrest warrants for 16-year-old Jayden Brown and 18-year-old Dakious Echols. They both face charges of malice murder, felony murder, four counts of aggravated assault, and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

There is a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrests of Brown and Echols. Call 706-775-4775 to make an anonymous tip.

Athens-Clarke County Police responded to Hallmark Mobile Home Park on Spring Valley Road just after 5:30 p.m. When they got to the home, they found out three people had been shot, including two children.

Spring Valley Road is just a little over a mile from Athens Ben-Epps Airport.

The adult and one of the children were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the hospital. However, police said the other child who was injured by gunfire was later pronounced dead.

Shanita Smith said her 3-year-old son Kyron Zarco was killed in the shooting. Her 9-year-old son, who just celebrated his birthday yesterday, was also injured but is being treated for his injuries in the hospital, Smith told 11Alive's Cody Alcorn.

An online fundraiser was started after a 3-year-old was killed in a triple shooting at an Athens mobile home park.

Family members are now looking for support during this time to cover his funeral arrangements.
