Dispute between teens leads to girl's stabbing in Sumter County

A juvenile petition for attempted murder has been obtained, the sheriff's office said.

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — A teen suspect could be facing an attempted murder charge following a stabbing in Sumter County on Friday.

According to preliminary details provided by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a dispute between two teen girls on Webb Avenue.

Investigators said one of the girls had been stabbed and taken by helicopter to an area hospital and the other had left the scene. Authorities said the stabbing victim identified her attacker and a juvenile petition for attempted murder has been obtained.

The search continues for the suspect in the case and few details about either have been released due to their age - both 16.
