Three men arrested on contraband charges at McCormick Correctional Institute

Men used a drone to fly, drop drugs and other contraband over facility's fencing

MCCORMICK COUNTY, S.C. — Three men have been arrested on contraband charges involving inmates at McCormick Correctional Institution in McCormick, South Carolina. The incident occurred on December 22, 2022.

The Inspector General of South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC) says charges were brought against:

  • Brian Francis Williams Jr., 31, of Richland County, for Trafficking in methamphetamines more than 100 grams; Trafficking in crack/cocaine more than 100 grams; Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; Criminal conspiracy; and Providing contraband to prisoners.
  • Allen Jerome Benton, 43, of Hampton County, for Providing contraband to prisoners, and Criminal conspiracy
  • Donte Calloway, 31, of Colleton County, for Providing contraband to prisoners and Criminal conspiracy.

The men allegedly used a drone device to drop packages containing methamphetamines, crack/cocaine, marijuana and other contraband into McCormick Correctional Institution.
