Thieves in Tomball hooked a stolen ATM to the back of their pickup and drove off, Pct. 4 said. One guy was arrested and the cash was recovered.

TOMBALL, Texas — We have an update on a story about an ATM theft in Tomball that we told you about on Wednesday. Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman's Office now says the thieves drove away with more than $58,000.

They didn't get very far though.

According to Pct. 4, two guys hooked the Wells Fargo ATM N. Eldridge Parkway and Spring Cypress Road to the back of their pickup and drove off with it.

Deputies who responded to the call just after 4 a.m. spotted the truck less than a minute later. They said both suspects jumped out and took off on foot.

One guy was quickly captured and arrested in a nearby residential area. According to Pct. 4, Earl Williams had two open warrants, including one for aggravated robbery.

The truck they were in was stolen from a nearby apartment complex so now Williams is charged with second-degree felony theft of an ATM and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The other man got away and hasn't been caught yet.

Precinct 4 shared photos of 100, 20 and 10-dollar bills scattered all over the street and in a yard where the suspect was arrested.
