Two Arrested in Wagener Dogfighting Ring

Aiken County deputies, Animal Control and Wagener Police broke up a dog fight, and arrested two men Sunday.

(Aiken) – The Aiken County Sheriff's Office, in cooperation with Aiken County Animal Control and Wagener Police Department, broke up an active dog fight on Sunday and arrested two men in a wooded area behind 175 Cofer Street in Wagener.Deputies charged 25-year-old Samuel Seawright of 248 Honeysuckle Trail in Perry with animal fighting. They also charged 27-year-old Leon M. Davis of 241 Holley Street in Wagener with animal fighting.Acting on a tip, deputies and officers say they discovered the dog fight in the woods. They ordered all the men to lie on the ground, but they say three individuals ran from the scene.Animal control officers seized two pit bulls.ACSO holds warrants for the arrest of 26-year-old Jermaine D. Wooden of 420 Big Tree Road in Salley, 23-year-old Isiah Jerry of 111 Wagontong Road in Wagener, 29-year-old Willie L. Seawright Jr., of 11 Hazel Hudson Drive in Wagener. Investigators say Wooden and Jerry will be charged with animal fighting, and Seawright Jr. will be charged with being present at an animal fight.The suspects are being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.
