RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — The Richland County Sheriff's Department is investigating an incident at the county jail that left two inmates wounded on Friday night.
According to a statement from the sheriff's department, deputies were called to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center around 9:30 p.m. on Friday to a report of two inmates being stabbed. When deputies arrived, one of the inmates was being treated for injuries that authorities didn't believe were life-threatening. The other victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of multiple stab wounds before deputies got to the jail.
Authorities haven't released any information regarding a motive for the incident. A sheriff's department spokesperson said the investigation is still underway.
The news comes just two days after the U.S. Department of Justice announced an investigation into the facility.
