Two wounded in Friday night Columbia shooting

The motive and other aspects of the shooting are still under investigation.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Police are investigating a shooting that wounded two people late Friday night in Columbia.

According to preliminary details from the Columbia Police Department, the shooting happened around 11 p.m. in the 2600 block of Chestnut Street which is not far from Two Notch Road.

Police said that ShotSpotter, a technology that uses special equipment to locate the source of gunfire, was what first alerted them to the shooting. When they arrived, police found two victims and began applying a tourniquet for one of them.

Authorities said the wounds did not appear to be life-threatening. Police are still gathering details regarding a motive and other aspects of the incident.
