RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A 24-year-old woman is in the hospital receiving treatment after being shot overnight.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department said that deputies were on patrol in the 1300 block of Longcreek Drive, an area not far from Broad River Road and I-20, around 1 a.m. when they were alerted that a woman was hurt.
The man told deputies that a woman had been shot. Authorities said the deputies quickly found the woman. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment soon after.
As the investigation continues, authorities said there are still very few details ready for release publicly. However, investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident, adding that there is no known threat to the general public.
