ROCK HILL, S.C. — A man was arrested after police say he stabbed and killed his mother on Saturday.
Carol Love, 60, was found dead at a home on Brunswick Drive in Rock Hill, according to the Rock Hill Police Department. Love died from injuries suffered in a stabbing.
Police identified Shawn Love, 27, as the suspect in Carol Love's death. Shawn Love is the son of Carol Love, according to police.
Shawn Love was arrested in Huntersville on Sunday and charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and breaking and entering. Court records say Love threatened a person at knifepoint while attempting to steal their car.
Rock Hill police filed warrants for murder for Shawn Love's arrest. He is awaiting extradition to South Carolina. He remains in Mecklenburg County jail with a $100,000 bond for his charges in Huntersville. His next court date is on Monday.
Now, Carol Love's family is trying to understand how this happened. Kolby Byers is Carol's oldest son and described her as the glue to the family. For this family, everyone fits together and Carol Love was at the center.
“She was the main piece," Byers said. "The main piece to the puzzle."
He said the family can't stop thinking about her loss and all she did for the family. She raised four children as a single mother and provided everything for her family. The family told WCNC Charlotte's Austin Walker she handled a lot.
“This is where all the family functions happen," Byer said, as he motioned to the dining room. "Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year. Everything right here.”
Byer said it's now up to him to be the glue and keep the family puzzle together.
"I'll do the cooking," Byer said "I was always in the kitchen learning. I want her to know I have it."
