COLUMBIA, S.C. — Heavy rain moved through the Midlands Friday afternoon and Friday evening. A few showers will still be possible through Saturday afternoon.
The first Friday of 2020 was very warm. High temperatures climbed into the middle 70s. The Columbia airport hit 77° before the rain moved in. The record high Friday was 79° set in 1952.
A cold front moved through the area early Saturday with heavy showers. A few showers are possible through the afternoon as a second cold front pushes through, before conditions dry out and temperatures drop overnight.
High temperatures will be in the middle 60s before the second cold front moves through.
Winds will be gusty at times. Winds will be out of the west at 15-20 mph with some stronger gusts.
A lake wind advisory is in effect from 7 AM Saturday to 7 AM Sunday for all of the Midlands.
Sunday will be sunny and cooler. Lows will start off in the middle 30s. Highs temperatures for the first Sunday of 2020 will be in the upper 50s.
Monday will be sunny and a touch warmer. Highs may top off in the lower 60s.
Another front will push through Tuesday. Ahead of the front a few showers will be possible. High temperatures will be in the lower 60s under partly cloudy skies.
Seasonable weather is expected Wednesday and Thursday. High temperatures will be in the middle to upper 50s.
