COLUMBIA, S.C. — UPDATE: There will be e-learning days for students at Pine Grove Elementary on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 4 and April 5, as repair and cleanup continues on a ruptured water main.
Richland School District One announced there will be no classes on Monday, April 3, at Pine Grove Elementary School, off Broad River Road in Columbia.
District officials say flooding occurred throughout the building and water and electricity had been shut down as repairs were being made.
The custodial staff at the school worked with a mitigation contractor to remove the water and assess the damage.
Pine Grove administrators have designated times Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning for parents to puck up e-learning materials for their children, along with breakfast and lunch provided by the school staff and district's Nutritional Services team.
In-person classes are expected to resume Thursday at Pine Grove Elementary.
