COLUMBIA, S.C. — For families in the city of Columbia that are struggling with housing issues, now there may be some relief.
Richland School District One is partnering with the Columbia Branch of the NAACP to host a series of five free housing clinics beginning in January and continuing through the month of May 2024. In order to attend one of the clinics, participants must have at least one child attending a Richland One school.
The clinics will cover such issues as the condition of the property -- mold and broken fixtures, for example -- illegal evictions, utility bill assistance, public benefits, and more. Select one of the following clinic dates in order to register for a clinic:
- Tuesday, January 16 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Lower Richland High School (2615 Lower Richland Boulevard, Hopkins, SC 29061)
- Monday, February 26 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at South Kilbourne Elementary School (1400 South Kilbourne Road, Columbia, SC 29205)
- Tuesday, April 23 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at C.A. Johnson High School (2219 Barhamville Road, Columbia, SC 29204)
- Monday, May 6 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Hopkins Middle School (1601 Clarkson Road, Hopkins, SC 29061)
There will be a special information session on evictions on March 9:
