Lexington, SC (WLTX) - Lexington School District Two trustees have named Dr. Tom Siler the district's new superintendent.

The trustees reached their decision Wednesday night, choosing him from among three other finalists.

He'll take over for Dr. Venus Holland, who's retiring at the end of this upcoming school year.

"We are very excited to have Dr. Siler join the district in this leadership position," said Bill Bingham, the Chairman of the Trustees, in a written statement. "His deep background in education and positive energy will be a tremendous asset to the community and keep us moving forward in an educational environment that is constantly evolving."

Siler has been the superintendent of Williston School District 29 in Barnwell County since 2012.

Trustees are working to finalize his contract. When it's complete, he's expected to be on the job with the district on September 15th, and will work with Holland during the school year to create a smooth transition and build relationships.
