COLUMBIA, S.C. — According to the United States Department of Education, there is a nationwide shortage of educators, and Voorhees University is taking steps to help aspiring teachers pass a crucial test.
Voorhees University offers a unique opportunity for aspiring educators who must pass the Praxis Core and Praxis II tests.
Praxis Core is the initial exam the prospective educators take to measure their content knowledge and reading, writing and mathematics skills.
The Praxis II exams test content knowledge and teaching skills in specific subject matter areas.
From Aug. 9 to 11, Voorhees is partnering with the National Education Association and the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus to offer an educator preparation and innovation boot camp.
Experts will be available to help participants prepare for the tests by offering tips and strategies for success.
At the end of the event, attendees can take the Praxis practice test or either of the actual Praxis tests for free. This boot camp focuses on early childhood, elementary education and special education.
Accommodations are available for those who are not in the Columbia area. Rooms have been reserved for attendees who need assistance. Meals will also be provided.
The event is free, but registration is limited. Registration ends July 15, 2024.
Organizers encourage anyone interested to contact them soon.
To register, you can find more information about the event at the Educator Preparation and Innovation website or email Tondaleya Jackson at tgjackson@epicenter1.org.
